shit... i just totally pulled my upper backout....
really not what I needed right now

I am so not impressed. Got a phone call this morning to tell me that I wont get my car back til 9th Feb!
I was floored by that, I kind of expected it back this week!!!!!!
The other person/insurance company still hasn't accepted liability so I have no replacement car.
I need to do so much stuff cos I'm shooting with my students on LOCATION next week (doesn't this just wreek of my Degree project!! When my car was nicked a week before we were shooting... grrr)... am not impressed.
I mean, I can get through it, but it's frustrating. And if any evening work pops up I'm screwed... I've already had to organise a lift on Thursday cos I wouldn't be able to get there otherwise...
And NONE OF THIS IS MY FAULT!!!!!!!!!!!!
that's the bit that gets me!
I will not be quite so nice about it all if this happens again I think.
It takes me over an hour to get to work now where it would normally take me 15 minutes max! And it's more expensive on public transport!!! Mental.
And my legs hurt
any way

Saturday, January 27, 2007

What an amazing night!
My legs hurt though....
We got to the Ben Folds gig at about quarter to 6... we stood outside so early so that we could get to the front ... after the doors opened at 7pm (and not a second too soon, it was bloody freezing outside and there were only so many games of Eye Spy we could play)...
We rushed to the front and managed to get right up there against the barrier, yay, it was snug, rather quickly n all.
As you can see from this picture - we were all rather cosy..
The katester and her clan arrived a little time after us and we didn't really get to see them as no one would let them get close to us :( boo - but I don't blame them , I wouldn't have let anyone through either.
We stood there for another hour ... waiting... chatting... drinking... looking... waiting.
Then the support came on.
On the tickets it said 'plus special guests'... the support was just one bloke. John and I decided that he was a 'special man'. All his songs were rather nice but very samey and we got a little bored by the end - which was an acoustic version of a song he wrote... sounded a bit odd with everyone chatting over the top of it!

I must admit I enjoyed the first half, but really didn't get into it until the second half which was AMAZING!!!!
I was so excited about the number of old songs he played... and with just him, a bass and drums, it really felt like 'the old days'.... and there was only one song in the entire set that I didn't know... hehe

Ahem... and now chatting with the Welch and sleeeeeeeeeeeep

Watch for me and Rach singing along ;) Some bad language

Childish but made me giggle:

Well, I have a meeting for a corporate thingy today.. ooo... here come the big bucks? Nah, we're doing it for expenses. BUT may lead on to something more in the future... watch this space.
Am tidying up today in anticipation of the Welch decending on us tomorrow, can't wait - BEN FOLDS!!!!!! mmmmmmmm

I'm so tired today. Still getting sporadic sleep.
The docs wa a waste of time really, which is why I've never bothered getting any of this looked at before! Ahh well, at least I know it's nothing serious, but i didn't think it was going to be anyway.

Hi - I seem to be missing about 5 tank tops people... I'm sure I must have leant them someone...

I am missing a green patterened one, a white and green striped one, a lime green patterened one, a blue one... possiblyanother one.

Anyone borrow these?

I hate how inconvienienced I AM cos of someone else!
My car may be out of action most of next week... I can just about get to Salford... but Trafford Centre job!??! No way! How am I going to get to there from Salford when I finish at 5pm and have to be THERE at 6.30PM?!
Probably will have to call up Direct Line again and see what the deal is. I thought I got a courtesy car!
Maybe I can get a lift with this guy

Off to the docs today... I hate the doctors....

I want to share this with a larger audience, cos it made me wee!

Last week an old woman reversed into me, no real harm done.
Today a young woman slammed in the back of me (it wasn't as bad as it could have been cos I saw her coming and tried to move with the crash) my neck is wrecked even more than before! Am taking my car in tomorrow to see if there's anything really wrong with it.. I don't think there is, we'll see.
Her car was all cracked and dented... and it was a hire car!

Anyhoo, am a bit achy and sore so I'm going to attempt a bath (in our STILL plugless bath!).

Monday, January 22, 2007

Well, the usual has happened and I'm frustrated and sad again.. work have given me SOME work, but not enough really.. it's not the end of the world by any means, but it's annoying. There MAY be some more in the pipeline, but who knows.
The school I was in today was OK, some lovely kids, some interesting teachers... I anticipate tomorrow being a bit harder work... but whatever, I have to keep looking at it as just one day! ONE DAY! Then I can relax again for a few more.
My neck is killing! It's been months now!
May dye my hair this week too... yeah baby.
Alright, going to chill with Chris for a bit, then bed... didnt' sleep well last night...

Sunday, January 21, 2007

*sneeze* don't ask me why but I can't stop sneezing tonight! Maybe it's all the snow? Or I'm illurgic to the school I have to go to tomorrow... :(
Despite the usual shite that plagues my mind I'm feeling very positive at the moment! I am happy! Yes, you read it here first.
It may not last, it rarely does for me, but I'm just swimming in it for now...

Multiple things not looking forward to this week but am managing to keep it all under wraps and not let it stress me out too much...
See this guy! This is Phil! Phil is funny, and I've missed him. Phil was one of my Youth Theatre kids from waaaaay back, he now works mostly abroad and comes home rarely. But he met up with me and Keya for some lunch the other day and we caught up and swapped stories.
Was good fun.
Binx has taken to sleeping in an annoying spot.
Amongst my clothes! Annoying.
She's still cute though, which makes it even more annoying!
Keya appears to be getting a cat, she's trying to figure out a name for it at the moment, answers on a postcard.
I went to visit Ben in Skipton on Friday, in this picture he doesnt' look very impressed with my visit.
But I'm sure he was - he's going a bit mental aparantly, no one around to hang out with or anything.
I am int he middle of editing a load of stuff, my hard drive is getting really clogged. I may have to buy yet another external hard drive - or just be more frugal with what I'm storing, blah.
My computer's decided to crash a couple of programmes, so I'm going to go and reboot

Random stuff....
I went a bit mental on Monday and uploaded LOADS of footage...
here are a couple of clips...

and check out for more!
I moan and complain about not having any free time then when I do I don't know what to do with myself...
I'm just sat here feeling really anxious! I'm bordering on how I was last August! Which wasn't pretty.
Just been given two days of work for next week so I have to suck it up and do that... which shouldn't be too hard.. but for some reason I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach. It's decent money, and I need it right now, but all the fibres in my body try to find ways to get out of it! I need a bit more focus.. I've been rather productive the last few days, but no where near as much as I should be. I just feel really limbo'ish.
My head is elsewhere and I need to pull it back a bit.
It's like there's an air of desperation hanging around.
I am filming a load of stuff tonight with 4 cameras! Look at me go! So I'm a bit nervous about that too... sooo many variables for what could go wrong :( Keya is helping which will be great, we work really well filming together.
Blah... going to get off my bum and clean the flat i think... I've been doing a lot of that...

Is it so weird to like true crime?
I do find it fascinating what people can do to other people... if I'm ever in a bookshop there are three places I hit Drama, Biography and True Crime. If I had to chose between the three then i'd probably go to True Crime!
I went to Borders Books today and spent half an hour just skimming through books on serial killers. There's something just so interesting about it all. Possibly because it's not in my mind set at all to be able to do any of these things... or maybe secretly I want to? (nah).
Right now i'm watching FBI Files... true stories of the FBI... some guy has killed people and chopped them up...
I'm weirding myself out a bit i'm going to stop...
don't fear me

Why thank you Mr/Ms anonymous... I'm flattered that my 'assets' are enough to make you want to make comments on my blog...
I would quite happily leave them there, if your name were attached, but sadly, no.

Impressed that you spell my name right though...

maybe it's the ghost of Danny Kaye?

Monday, January 15, 2007

Got a bit over excited and asked Danny Kaye to be my friend on Myspace.. he's dead.
Got the rooms sorted last night, Chris and I had a long chat... we are 'getting there' as is said.
My bum hurts though as I'm sat on a crappy plastic chair cos I can't fit a proper computer one in here... :(
My neck still wrecks too :(

This is my 800th post!
Anyhoo.... while at Darryl's he showed us some hilarious re dubbed Tintin episodes... check this one out then look for some more... (rude language)

Had a nice weekend with mum and pals and the like.
Chris headed off to Doncaster to watch wrestling... which he likes to do... and had a great time.. check out his blog on his myspace at some point (he already wrote it up once and then it crashed.... but he will be writing it up again).
When I got back this morning (after leaving a very teary mother at the airport) I discovered a tyre in my boot. I was a little perplexed... not a wheel, a tyre.... got back in at half 9 this morning and asked Chris.... he said "...funny story"... I shut the door and told him to tell me when I woke up...
So check out his blog for the reason.
So, yesterday I volunteered to help my friend Carys document some of her make up work for her new website. I went to John's with her and Lou and made people look hideous ;) Actually she made lou look delightful! And I've booked myself in to look delightful at some point.
Then I met up with my lovely KT and we ate pizzza and went to Darryl's and played with his wii.... hehe makes me giggle...
It sounds like wee.
I really enjoyed playing on it to be honest! I didn't think I'd be that fussed but it was a jolly old time.
Chris has suggested getting rid of the PSP and getting one... which I'm all for ;)
Me and KT have decided we need to get together more, so that's another thing to add to my list of 2007 I think.
I missed out talking about Friday too! Which was mostly spent with mu mum ... I bought some new shoes! Paid the most I've probably ever paid for shoes ... bought them cos my legs ar a mess and my feet hurt in most of theones i have... got some snug ones which I thought would help.
They did.
But not my poor heels!
I've got plasters all over the place... I think I just need to work them in, they are made of hemp! lol
Right I'm off - plan is to sort the flat out today... and I'm determined to at least make a start...

GRRR just closed down! I just spent 3 hours writing a review for it... sod it, it's going here instead!

Stand Up and Deliver - Salford University Students - 2006
12th December 2006 - Frog and Bucket
By Brainne Edge

The show of nine acts was expertly compered by their tutor for this module, the lovely Jason Manford. He obviously knew this audience and played to them wonderfully, even throwing in references from when he too was at Salford University, which was a nice touch.
The difference to last years show was substantial. All the acts appeared much more confident and with rather interesting material.

First up was Steven Ronstance and his swish jacket. He had some nice lines about masturbating in Tesco’s, as you do, and some fun randomness which raised a mighty giggle. He had a little stumble and seemed to lose the audience slightly in the middle, but over all a good start to the night.

Next was Claire Brookes, who went straight into her set guns blazing. She had some nice material about her mums obsession with fridge magnets, come on, we’ve all been there. Some wonderfully timed silences and pauses, very brave for a first time out. She well deserved the spontaneous rounds of applause she received. Got a little rambling towards the end but didn’t lose focus and was very enjoyable to watch. Hope to see her again.

Up jumped Becky Taylor next. She had an instant confidence, and became a crowd favourite from the outset. Some good use of word play which suited her onstage persona. I would hope Becky will go on to do some more stand up as she has a natural ease to her performance and a lovely delivery. Only one criticism, is know when to stop. Unfortunately as this was an assessment you can’t ride the crowd and leave them on the high you’ve created if you have another minutes worth of stuff you have to perform. Becky reached two such climaxes, and it was a shame she couldn’t have left on the first to the massive applause she was receiving. Really good fun to watch.

Break, I had some nachos.

Next was Fiona Abernathy, self professed “facially attractive”. She had some really nice moments, but seemed a little bit nervous. Loved the stuff about discovering the actual definition of ‘love child’.

Next we saw Jackie Brown. She had a nice gossipy delivery but a lot of her material was rather obvious, which was a shame. She also seemed to lose the thread a couple of times. There is certainly room for improvement here though. Liked her pull back and reveal stuff, although the end of the set just petered out.

Middle section ended with Tom Watson. He was very energetic but this seemed to be the main part of his act. I like his general demeanour but he was a little hard to understand, maybe it was nerves? Liked his skally stuff and he coped well with his own fumbles, would like to see him banter with an audience, I think he’d do well.

Break, I had a J2O.

Opening the last section was Kate Wincup. A few technical problems, like leaving the mike stand at the front of the stage, and not learning her set. That aside, some nice bits, especially with regards to the swing ball that was like a sister to her, “skinny bitch”. Lovely.

Next up was Della. She had a nice conversational delivery, and some great comebacks for heckles! I would say her onstage presence made up for some weak material. Having said that, she kept my attention for the time she was on stage.

The last act of the night was Alfie Noakes. He had a hard job going on last at such a long gig, but his energy and material won the sleepy audience over completely! He played around with conventions of comedy, had some nice word play, and was just a joy to watch. One of the best acts of the night in my opinion. Loved the random tangents he took us on. Hilarious.
And so ended the night, well done one and all, and especially Jason for the amount of work he must have put into this module.

Brainne Edge
Had a lovely drive out to Glossop today to catch up with Julian and help him get rid of some of his books and records... i helped relieve him of a couple myself.... hehe.... so then we drove a few boxes of books to the local book buyers. He managed to make £20 on about 10 books so that's not too bad, I'm sure he hoped for more.
While we were there we met a delightful young man who WAS NOT GAY who asked the bloke who owned the place if he has any doctor who novels to sell. So Julian stepped up to tell him about all the stuff he had to sell... there began a 20 minute one upmanship on Doctor Who merchandise! lol.... was interesting..
got back and had a night in with chris and some pizza.... felt desperately fat... have deicded I have to do more excercise! really must!
Watching the Producers (musical) right now... i love bits of it but HATE MATHEW BRODERICK! God he's awful.... he's a bad Gene Wilder impression....
mmmm Gene Wilder.... *sigh*

what a horrible nights sleep!
Went to bed late anyway, about 1am... then woke up from another nightmare at about 4am! Was freaked out and alone so didn't want to try and go back to sleep in my bed, went to sleep on the couch in the living room - which is not really designed for sleeping on... had sporadic sleep til Chris wandered in about 7am... then I went back to bed and had even more sporadic sleep as some workers decided to cut down a tree outside from 8am... they are still doing it...
so I am not in any mood for today, which has been worrying me for some time anyway...
i haven't finished marking all the written work yet anyway... I had to stop last night as it was annoying me so much! The lack of attention to what I'd told some of these students OVER AND OVER AGAIN is really depressing... do they really not want to help themselves?!

Watched Chris last night, he was really on top form... took command of the room and just did his thing... was great to see him have fun... even the new 'just split up with my girlfriend' stuff made me laugh (after the initial... 'great'). The compere then came over afterwards after not listening aparantly, asking me how great my fella was!
I agreed though... he was.
Tavner did pretty well too :)

Right I have to go and finish the marking... I feel sick today :( blergh

Things got busy again quick...
Back to work today, wasn't too bad, nice to see some of the students again.
Not sure tomorrow's going to be quite as good.
To the left here we see Dug saying goodbye to Binx... since Dug moved out it's been slightly quieter... Dug was mostly asleep anyway ;)
So many people are going to miss that cat in her life! She's a gorgeous cat!
Which was shown to me again when my mum and sister popped round to visit and brought me some of my own pants and Binx a toy!
She loved it though... which is rare cos she hates everything I buy for her... bitch.

ugh more bloody nightmares! I need to destress my head.... i may buy biscuits

Pinched from Jillios blog:

This was on the wall at Jimmy John's and I got a big kick out of reading it.
The education system has educated our children using a formula that gives them an unrealistic expectation of the universe. Here are some real life rules that might help them cope with graduation:

Rule 1 Life is not fair; get used to it.

Rule 2 The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something before you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 You will not make 40 thousand dollars a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. He doesn't have tenure.

Rule 5 Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping; they called it opportunity.

Rule 6 If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault so don't whine about your mistakes. Learn from them.

Rule 7 Before you were born your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way paying your bills, cleaning your room, and listening to you tell how idealistic you are. So before you save the rain forest from the bloodsucking parasites of your parents' generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8 Your school may have done away with winners and losers but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades, they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This, of course, bears not the slightest resemblance to anything in real life.

Rule 9 Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off, and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10 Television is not real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11 Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
Well, things have gone a bit mental here... the last two nights I've been woken up by nightmares.. some fantastical, some based in reality... Chris has moved into the spare room ,which is weird... don't really know what to do with myself.

Cullinary New Year to you all.
Tonight we celebrated the 1st of January by making a meal from scratch... well... Chris made it.
Tavner and I delighted in the results. MM MM MMMMMM
A veggie hot pot of miracles.
The whole thing began with a VAT of VEG. To be crammed into two small casserole dishes...
The smallest of the two broke within 10 minutes... DOH! (we owe Tavner one casserole dish now) .
I was just impressed in general at the whole making something out of ingredients thing. Sounds silly, but I just never do it... i think there are only about 3 dishes I could make from scratch - everything else involved packages and frozen things... or tins.
So, while that was all cooking I finished editing the DVD's that I've been supposed to get done for ages! Only I was waiting for the music so I could finally complete the whole thing ... so i improvsied and got it all done today... longgggg day for it... but it's done, and it's burning as I type.
Anyway back to the lovely meal.
Dug and I went to ASDA yesterday to get the ingredients... there were a few things I didn't know what they were... but was pleasantly surprised.
The crusty bit on the top (which was actually supposed to be more like dumplings (see right)) was the best bit for me... and the leeks... mmmmmmm

So... if that wasn't enough we had a lovely pudding too... lemon rice! Gorgeous...and i bought some blackberries to go with it.
A rather civilised evening...
Apart from all that porn Tavner was looking at on our internet connection... ohhh tavner...

Happy New Year one and all...
I had a rocky new years to be honest filled with laughter, tears, back pain, stomach ache, self reflection, more tears, and a bit of sleep.
Today I'm going to be productive! I have some editing that's been sat for AGES needing to be done... if I can get all that finished today (and I think I can) then it will be good :D
Chris is making a meal from scratch today too to break in the vege cooking book his mum got him for Xmas... I don't know what careaic is but I'm eating it aparantly...
Before I go and get on with some work (and picking Ben up from where ever he ended up last night) I want to share with you something Chris wrote (he's amazing with words) to bring in the new year:

For every ambition that has thus far eluded you, I hope next year brings it ever closer.

For every success that this year has brought, I hope next year sees its continuation.

For every memory from this year that still brings pain, I hope next year will bring you peace.

For every second of every minute of every day next year, I wish you good health, contentment and success in everything you attempt.

In love, life and striking a living I urge you to be the best you can possibly be in everything you do.

Happy New Year.
